Endless lies

​The ones we call friends

Abandoned us when we needed them most.

They lost time for sharing problems,

Helping us find solutions.

Their replies became rude,

Our hearts broke with each.

The ones we call friends

Refused to spare even a second

But gave their hours to others

They listened to others plights

And left us in a web of misery

Left with no one to turn to

The ones we call friends

The ones we hoped would stay

Left in a jiffy, like a shooting star

Oh, how the Holy Bible was right:

“Foolish is he who trusts a human”

Now our hearts shed tears

But our eyes hold them in

The ones we call friends

The ones who were close to our heart

Broke us without hesitation

Birungi Precious Uwineza is a female Ugandan, a passionate poetess, writer, public speaker, playwright and dancer. She has participated in the National Students Anti-corruption Challenge (2022-2023) and won a certificate. She has also involved herself in multiple debates at school.

She has contributed to the two online poetry magazines shown on the right.
She has also written numerous other poems which have been used by the writers club at her school. She has also involved herself in fighting corruption with IGG and has had an interview regarding the various forms of corruption.
She has also written a number of stories on the Wattpad app. Due to her writing skills, she managed to become the chair person and editor of the writers club at her school (2021 -2023).
Currently she's in senior five at good hope Divine secondary school and she is the current Chief Judge of the school court and the Vice Chairperson and treasurer of the writers club. She has also participated in some debates at school as well as quizzes and speech writing competitions in school.
